SRE enables Engineering teams to deliver faster by providing expertise, education and a stable platform.
Mission
- We empower Engineering teams to autonomously deliver reliable, high-performance products, minimising reliance on SRE as gatekeepers. Engineering teams take full ownership of their codebase, pipelines, and observability, while SRE collaborates to educate, optimise, and support the evolution of their implementations.
- We foster a culture of openness, curiosity, and continuous improvement. This means not only learning new technologies and skills but also proactively seeking out and understanding the needs and pain points of the teams we support, even before they ask. We encourage self-reflection, constantly analyzing our successes and failures, and evaluating both our technologies and our infrastructure to evolve with the demands of the business.
- We avoid dictating and instead help teams understand and comply with organisation-wide constraints. This allows us to balance reliability and innovation speed.
- We prioritise system reliability by implementing Service Level Objectives (SLOs), observability, incident management, and alerting. We embrace failure as an opportunity to learn and improve, using error budgets and postmortems to build resilient systems.
- Through clear communication, we share new features, updates, and achievements both within our team and across the organisation. We believe in collaboration, actively engaging with other teams to gather insights, address needs, and share knowledge. Sharing the knowledge goes with documenting our infrastructure and solutions.
- We standardise our work by reusing proven patterns to reduce cognitive load, increase efficiency, and make it easier for everyone to contribute. When patterns don’t fit, we work hand-in-hand with Engineering teams to create new solutions. We also ensure that our platforms remain transparent, avoiding unnecessary abstractions that could create silos or dependency.
